My Philosophy

It's important that you choose an antenatal teacher or doula whose ideas match yours. It's always good to interview more than one to get a feel for their beliefs and personalities. To understand a little more about where I'm coming from read on..........

I believe........

* that women were designed to give birth
* that with the right support a woman's birth experience can be empowering and something she can be proud of - whatever the mode of birth
* that water can be an excellent method of pain relief & a natural environment
for a baby to be born into
* that some women may hate the thought of using water for labour/birth!
* that certain methods of pain relief can have a negative effect on labour and the baby but that there is a time and place for everything
* that some babies just get themselves stuck and there's nothing you could
have done to have made a difference
* that every birth is a cause for celebration

* in positive thinking
* in preparation and organisation
* in informed decision making - making the right choices for YOU
* in supporting you whatever those choices are - whether I agree with them or
not!
* in giving fact and not opinion
* in the family unit - I will NEVER intentionally get in the way of you and your
partner
* in breastfeeding because of all the benefits for mum and baby

* that as parents we make mistakes and should try and learn from them
* that no-one expects us to be perfect parents (unless they haven't had children of their own!)
* that every day we make memories for our children - these are precious times

PLEASE NOTE: I have not undertaken training for reflexology, hypnobirthing, homeopathy, aromatherapy, reiki or any other alternative therapy that you may require. I can support you if you have employed your own therapist but I am not able to offer any advice/information.
